A cover for the Baltimore City Paper, who I love illustrating for because it's almost like sketchbook work - they let me do whatever I want, they don't have to approve sketches, and I get to experiment with each piece. This cover was a practice in hand drawn type.
Some hands forming the letters "c" and "a" to be used by my photographer friend, Chloe Aftel, to go along with her new logo design.
Two fun assignments that both had the feeling of experimental sketchbook work. Not bad.
Jesse and I are planning on wrapping up the week by watching Moonrise Kingdom. I haven't been won over by Wes Anderson's last couple of films, even though I'm a big fan of Rushmore and The Royal Tennenbaums, so I'm going in with lowered expectations. I know I can count on his movies to be exquisitely curated, even if they don't always emotionally grab me and today that's about all I need. A bonus for our viewing will be that I just got to hear Jessica Hische talk about the typography she designed for the film at last week's illustration conference!
