Sorry for the lack of posts this week, it's just been a pretty blah week. The one bright spot occurred yesterday when I picked up Amy Sedaris's I Like You: Hospitality Under the Influence at the library. I'd heard about her book months ago when it came out, but I hadn't checked it out for myself until yesterday. I'm happy to report that it went way beyond my expectations. Between the 70's styled food photos, subversive ideas for children's parties, and awesome tips like "if you know that you are going to be drinking or doing drugs, make sure to first organize your wallet so you don't accidentally pay the cabbie too much money", I was in heaven. She is just my kind of crazy.

My trip to the library also reminded me how much I love libraries. If libraries were food, they would be grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup - the ultimate comfort food. I think it's because I remember spending so much time in our local public library as a kid. They also combine two of my favorite things - organization and books (especially cool vintage books). I made a comment to Jesse once that if I wasn't an illustrator, I think I'd enjoy being a librarian and he reminded me that I have a completely romanticized view of librarians stemming from movies and fictional stories and if I knew what their job really entailed I'd probably hate it. I'm sure my Mom, who started out her career as a librarian, would completely agree. So, in the meantime, I'll just enjoy being a library patron. Because besides books and organization, I also really like being part of a dying breed.

Sorry I went on a weird library tangent. I'll blame it on that fact that it's Friday. Have a good weekend!
