We made a quick, semi-last-minute trip to Alabama last weekend to visit my family. It ended up being a 14 to 16 hour drive each way, but it was worth it.

We saw my adorable 10 month niece, who posed for me 9 months earlier on a different blanket in her backyard.

My sister's backyard is also home to a vintage fire engine, somehow procured and stored there by her father-in-law. I don't know the whole story, but I still like it.

Our long drive also gave us plenty of time to ooh and aah over the huge skies and dramatic clouds that we miss seeing while living in a city.

There, now you can to pretend like you just crossed through Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee and Virginia with us, without all of the rest stops and greasy fast food! It was a great visit, but we're glad to be back home.
