Last night, I watched Wong Kar-Wai's 2000 film, In the Mood for Love, for the first time and found it hauntingly beautiful.
Sorry, this trailer isn't in English, but I think it's a better representation of the movie than the American version.
The story follows the slow companionship formed between two neighbors, played by Maggie Cheung and Tony Leung, after they discover that their spouses are having an affair. The story is set in Hong Kong around 1962, and features gorgeous retro costumes and production work. I'll warn you that the pacing is very slow and deliberate, but that just gives you more time to marvel at Christopher Doyle's beautiful cinematography. Seriously, each frame could be a work of art.
Have you ever seen In the Mood for Love? This makes me really want to watch 2046, Wong Kar-Wai's 2004 follow-up film featuring both of the same actors, next.
